In the showcases you can see the continuation of shipbuilding, especially the transition from wooden to metal ships. A guild chest of the Eberbach boatmen from 1351 has been preserved and is on display here. Models such as paddle steamers as forerunners of the "white fleet" are also among them. Metal ships were considered "inexplosible", but that was unfortunately a mistake.
Tourists travelled the Neckar from Heidelberg as early as the 19th century. Among the most famous travellers are the English painter William Turner and the American writer Mark Twain.
Before the old iron bridge was built in Eberbach in 1901, it was possible to cross the Neckar with teams and animals on a "yaw ferry". A model in the display case in front of the window shows this in detail.
