The tour now leads to a small room where documents on the history of the town are on display. Documents since the founding of the town in the Middle Ages and views of the town in paintings are on display.
The oldest known town view of Eberbach can only be represented in a reproduction. It is a pen and ink drawing, probably made around 1619 by a painter from the Dutch artists' colony in Frankenthal, commissioned by the famous engraver and publisher Matthäus Merian (1593 - 1650). Merian's topographically precise views of towns were published in his main work "Topographia Germaniae" from 1642. The view of Eberbach was not included, perhaps because it was too expensive for the town fathers. The original drawing is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. The drawing covers the entire view of the town from the Neckar, from the Powder Tower to the Blue Hat and on to the Rose Tower.
