August Rumm, who came from Schwanheim, lived for a while in the Grötzingen painters' colony near Karlsruhe. Like Arthur Grimm and Otto Gräber, he belonged to the late Impressionist generation of painters. They orientated themselves on the painting style of Wilhelm Trübner (1851-1917), who was born in Heidelberg but worked in Frankfurt. Rumm became known for his countless portraits of famous personalities, including historical figures. One example is the portrait of Friedrich Weinbrenner in the entrance hall of the museum. Rumm also created many landscape paintings.
