Here, a profession typical of Eberbach and its forest wealth is depicted: that of the hoop cutter. Grouped around his workplace are a carving bench, a splitting bench and a bending bench as well as hazel sticks in various stages of processing.
They were used to make barrel tyres for industry and commerce. The demand for them was enormous. The cooperage museum in the vicarage offers a comprehensive insight into the work of the cooper, i.e. the barrel maker. The hoop cutters had an influence on the composition of the coppice forest and thus again on the development of the forest. This can still be seen in the forest today.
