Coppice forestry

The tower clock was once located in the centre of the roof truss. The so-called "coppice forestry" is depicted in the square of thick beams. It shaped the forest and the landscape for centuries.

It was important to obtain firewood, and oak bark was also needed for the tanners and hoop poles for the barrel makers or coopers. Women often did this work.
